Related Species: .

Description: Crests are plants the stretch along their apical meristem and grow more or less elongated. A. asterias crests are the same. Due to the grow rib form will not be the same, more like a bunch of wavy lines growing from the middle.

Rib form: Ribs have no set from in crested Astrophytum plants. They grow thin and wavy in form. There will be quite a few and are not limited in number. The larger the plant, the more ribs, although they do not look much like ribs..

Max. size: Crests tend to grow slower than normal forms, but also are capable or large sizes which can become quite impressive. Many potted collection plants probably wont see more 30cm, but are capable of exceding that in many years.

Skin: See Astrophytum asterias.

Areoles: Same a regular forms, just their location is dependant on where the ribs are.

Roots: See Astrophytum asterias.

Reproduction: See Astrophytum asterias.

Flower Morphology: Same as other A. asterias however there seems to be a far greater chance of getting crested flowers as well. Many crested cacti have compressed flowers that never seem to develop as large or symetrical as their normal buddies.

Petal colour: See Astrophytum asterias.

Fruits: We have not yet seen a fruit from a crested plant.

Seeds: Which means we haven't seen seeds either.
