Welcome to Ethno Culture!

Entheogen Culture is devoted to the information surrounding Entheogens & Ethnobotanicals. Entheogens are substances that provide a "spiritual experience" to the being consuming it. This can be translated in many different ways, but often refer mostly to those things that connect one with god (or spirits & the like), often things such as hallucinogens. On this site, these will be limited to plant sources. Ethnobotanicals are plants that are utilized by people. Be it for food, medicine, divination, construction you name it.

It should be said, in bold, that MANY MEMBERS OF THESE FAMILIES ARE DEADLY TOXIC. Dead usually is permanent, for the record. The previous, and current, use of some of these plants should be considered dangerous, at no point in this entire site do we recomend the use of these, or any, plants without serious research, consideration and professional advice. This site is for the education of various plants, especially in relation to human beings, nothing more. Now that I can't be sued, lets take a closer look.

These plants play a very important role in all of our everyday lives. Our food, medicine, houses and the air we breathe are all from plants. These are very fascinating organisms to study.

Some plant families are used more than others. For example the Solanaceae family contains numerous beneficial plants. We get medicine, narcotics & food from this group. They produce common foods such as tomatoes, egg plant, potatoes and peppers. There are many narcotic plants in this family, which are also usually quite toxic like tobacco, datura, belladonna & brugmansia to name a few.

It is important to realize that even though this website, and many other resources, such as books & journals, talk about the benefits and/or potential benefits of a given plant or chemical, many times it has not fully been studied. Some plants may be incredibly healthy because they have XYZ chemicals, however what may not be stated in that snipet of information is that it also contains ABC chemicals which can kill you. Always, ALWAYS research plants, especially their safety before ever thinking about ingesting them. This site, and many others, are more or less a compilation of information. Sometimes with biology, what is fact today is fiction tomorrow. Take everything with a grain of salt, get multiple opinions, and make your own educated decision. This is important for anything, whether you are trying to work out a good diet, trying to boost your immune system, or trying to chase ET through the cosmos, do so wisely, and carefully.
