Hiking British Columbia

British Columbia is a backpacking, cycling, climbing, caving, camping destination right up there with the worlds best in our opinion! You can spend a life time with boots and pack, and not even come close. Here are some places we would suggest.

One should ALWAYS be prepared forthe worst, in any situation. It is assumed here that you already know what your doing, so we are not going to go into the safety and often commo sense end of things. If you paddle, know the tides and bring emergenycy equipment, if your in bear country bring some protection etc. If one can afford such gear a satelite phone is incredibly valuable, but not cheap. GPS is also very advisable in many areas!

Hiking/Walking

The followign guidlines are meant for people who are acrtive but generally unfamiliar with hiking/backpacking. So the difficult may be in fact easy to the seasoned hiker, but to ma,pa and kid Joe it would be a disaster. It is more based on actual difficulty walking/getting there, not so much length.

Some may be listed in more thaan one category, this is because in teh case of a large area, there may be easy, moderate and difficut hikes to do.

Easy Hikes

Juan de Fuca trail

Carmanah Walbran

San Josef Bay

Gowlland Tod Provincial Park

Goldstream Provincial Park

Moderate Hikes

West Coast trail

Carmanah Walbran

Difficult Hikes
