Cultivation

By Seed

Fresh seeds seem to be important. Once the seeds are fully dry, we see 0% germination, and we have tested hundreds of seeds. When fresh, germiantion is fast (a week +/-) and growth begins quick. Older seeds may take longer, in which case fungus can become an issue. It is commonly sugested to use a sterile mix to prevent this, not needed if seeds are fresh (less than a few months). Older seeds are probably best treated with a good fungicide before sowing. We like a mix of about 50% sand and 50% coco coir for germinating. They should be kept slightly moist and never dry. Temperatures around 20 degrees (C) are ideal. Sow in medium light.

Light

Seedlings should be started in good light, but not direct sun. Once the roots are strong and established they can, and should, be adjusted to full sun and preferably be planted in the ground (where conditions permit).
